Letters from Annette

 Given the freedom of choice, most people choose to believe what suits them or their particular worldview based on their culture or family beliefs. Having been raised in a full gospel church in a small southern town (England, Arkansas) with Christian parents, my worldview was disrupted when at the age of 19, I went to Dallas, Texas and experienced speeding traffic on immensely wide freeways that curved around everywhere.

What do you do when circumstances contradict the Word of the Lord? Paul said in Ephesians 6:13, “...and having done all, to stand.” When you have done everything you know to do, take your stand...and just stand there.

This morning in prayer the Lord spoke the word “discomfit” to my spirit. I am speaking this word today regarding the enemy. Psalm 18:14 "He shot His arrows and scattered the foes. He hurled (to multiply ten thousand times) lightning and discomfited them."  

My Bible is so marked up throughout the book of Proverbs that it is almost unreadable.  When I was in my late teens, I came to realize that wisdom was the “principal thing.” (Proverbs 4:7)  So I made it my quest to read and study the book of Proverbs and confess and declare that I was “filled with the wisdom of God” every day.  Wisdom will keep you out of trouble!

Our nation’s history and the history of God are filled with accounts of how one person has the power to affect the destiny of a nation. Caesar Rodney was just such a person. 

What do you need today? Do you need peace? Do you need a loved one saved? Your bills paid? Whatever you need, He has already provided for it. Too many times we think that we have to talk God into something when in reality His hand is outstretched trying to give it to us while we are struggling and trying to meet our own needs and problems. 

I define prayer as simply “talking to God.” Depending on what church you were raised in (or if you were even raised in church) you may have been taught that prayer was always a formal request before Almighty God who is to be feared. Regardless of our concept of prayer, having a conversation with God by speaking with Him is a powerful way to start a day, end a day, or present a difficult life situation to the One who has the power to help change it.

My immune system functions perfectly in the way God created it to function. It is fully developed and balanced. Wisdom is imparted to my immune system today to reject all pathogens and accept all that is good. 

“You give life to whatever you speak.” “Your words constantly create life and peace or death and destruction.” It makes you want to keep your mouth shut, doesn’t it? At least until you have thought about what you are about to say!

Did you know that your thoughts have power? It may seem as if they are hidden somewhere deep in your brain and invisible and unheard to those around you, but they are living thoughts, alive with power.

I particularly enjoyed reading this month’s pamphlet because it brings such truth to understanding the scriptures. Over the years, I have received so many letters from people who are bound by fear and religious spirits. 

We all have different interpretations when it comes to the word “love.” Some people seem to think Christian love is only about “turning the other cheek” and allowing others to take advantage of you. But if we look at love from the standpoint of “God is love,” it can give us a different perspective.
