You Were Meant to Prophesy!

Have you ever felt a sudden burst of inspiration? Maybe you were touched by a scripture you read or a song that just rose up within you?
Flowing in the gifts of the Holy Spirit starts like that. I wrote the book The Spirit of Prophecy to help you understand how the Holy Spirit moves upon and operates through us. Why? Because He wants to inspire you, move you, and speak through you!
For far too long, we have thought that the gifts of the Holy Spirit come mainly through ministers and those we consider “spiritual.” Well, guess what? You are SPIRITUAL. If you are born of the Spirit and if you have received the gift of the Holy Spirit, then you are in a position for the Spirit to manifest Himself through you.
Paul makes himself very clear in 1 Corinthians 12:7 (ESV), “To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.”
Who was Paul writing to? Ministers? Apostles? Pastors?
No, Paul was writing to the body of Christ in Corinth and addressing the fact that the Holy Spirit wants to manifest Himself through EACH of us. As a continuation of his teaching, Paul specifically addresses prophesying in chapter 14.
1 Corinthians 14:1 (ESV), “Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.”
In Peter’s first sermon, he addressed prophesying:
Acts 2:18 (ESV), “even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.”
You may never prophesy in church, but you can prophesy when you are praying alone, with a prayer partner, or in a prayer meeting. Hook your mouth up to your spirit by praying in tongues, then let the inspiration and breath of the Spirit flow out of your mouth.
I learned to do this by praying out loud and personalizing the inspired prayer of Paul in Ephesians 1:17–23: “I pray that the God of my Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, will give to me the spirit of wisdom and revelation….” When the prayer ended, I let the Spirit of prophecy continue to flow. You can too!
