Imagine New Beginnings

January 2026

Every year I am aware that January is a new beginning. Aside from the fact that my birthday is in January (that’s a new year for me), January 1 is a new calendar year of beginnings. Whether you are a “goal-setting” person or not, I would like to encourage you to look at two scriptures in regard to the new year of 2026.

“Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul(3 John 1:2 ESV).

We can say the words “prosper and be in health” and have a general idea of it but not know what that looks like to us. So I am asking you to use your imagination and create a picture.

What would your day/week/year look like if you were in good health?

What would your day/week/year look like if all goes well?

If you are like me, you come up with a general idea. “I would feel good and be happy.”

Yes, but WHAT WOULD THAT LOOK LIKE?

Here is where you and I have to paint a picture, use words to describe, and imagine with our senses just what health and “all going well” would be like. The power of imagination is found in what God said about those building the tower of Babel:

“… now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.” (Genesis 11:6 KJV)

Let your spirit and mind image what you would do if your health were excellent. How would it change your morning when you got up? Would you be eating differently? Would you be walking, exercising, and cleaning house? How would it change your daily routine? Would you spend less time at the doctor’s office and more time having lunch with friends or playing with your grandchildren?

How would your life change if all went well in your life? Would your relationships be loving instead of contentious? Would your house be organized and your finances in order, with all bills paid on time? Would you be paying your tithes, sowing seed into ministries, and reaping the benefits of partnership with God? Would loneliness be a thing of the past as you ministered to others in prayer and support?

You have to image (or imagine) these situations if you want them to become REAL. Spend time writing what you desire your life to look like, meditate, and see the picture in your mind, hearing and feeling what it is to be prosperous and live in health. I pray this for you for 2026.

In Christ,

Annette Capps
