Dear Partner,
The single most important Bible teaching that has impacted my life is the subject of the authority of the believer. Raised in church, born again at the age of 6, received the Holy Spirit at the age of 8, I heard many good sermons at my home church from our pastor, Brother Harold Walls. At youth camp, I heard exciting and inspirational messages that lingered throughout the summer. But what happened when I was 17 really set a course for my ministry.
In Abilene, Texas for a week, I was participating in a soul winning crusade. As was typical, I stayed at the home of a church member and her daughter who welcomed me warmly. Along with the warm welcome, I was presented with a book and the admonition that if I was staying in their home, I was required to read this book before the end of the crusade. A little odd, but ok. When I looked at the title, it was “Authority of the Believer” by Kenneth E. Hagin, the very book my father had just read! So I read it the first night and the power of the Word and anointing of the Spirit came upon me. The gifts of the Spirit began to flow for the first time. When I prayed at the altars of the church, I had a vision of the house I would visit that day and saw the people who would give their lives to Christ.
Authority is a subject that the devil would like to keep from you and from all the church of Jesus Christ in order to keep YOU in subjection to his ways: darkness, sickness, and torment. Jesus said, “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.” Luke 10:19 ESV
This version of the Bible correctly translates the words “authority” (exousia) and “power” (dunamis). Sometimes it has been incorrectly translated “power over all the power of the enemy.” This is very important. You see, authority is greater than manifest power. Does the devil have power? Some…he has potential and most of his power is his ability to lie and then deceive humans to speak and act upon his lies. So when confronted with lies against your mind or lying symptoms in your body, use your AUTHORITY delegated to you by Jesus Christ Himself because he has given you HIS NAME.
“…that in the Name of JESUS every knee should bow, of beings in Heaven, of those on the earth, and of those in the underworld.” Philippians 2:10 Weymouth NT
There is no authority above the name of Jesus and there is no power (dunamis) greater than God, Who raised Him from the dead. And there is no authority or power over your life that can defeat the Son of God and the armies of the hosts of heaven! You not only have authority, but you have been clothed with dunamis power and can speak with authority and with the anointing of the Spirit to annul every weapon formed against you!
Read this pamphlet carefully and consider the position God has placed us in — with authority and power here on this earth at this very time and place.
