Taking the Shield of Faith by Charles Capps

Single teaching DVD

Charles teaches about Jesus admonishing us to take no anxious thought concerning the necessities of life.  The way you "take a thought" is by speaking it.  Do not take thought by saying, "What am I going to do?" Words like that will never produce faith; they will only produce fear, doubt, and unbelief.  Faith comes from hearing God's Word.  Negative thoughts will die unborn unless you speak them.  Faith stops at the question mark.

You can build your faith by quoting the Word of God, but it must be done before fear comes on the scene. When you have built your faith it becomes a shield against the doubt, fear, and unbelief that tries to come later. Speak the Word to plant it in your heart and cause faith to come, so that it will still be there when you need it.

You can't always keep the devil from putting doubt in your mind, but if you refuse to speak it, it will never enter your heart.  In Mark 5:36, when Jairus is brought terrible news, Jesus tells him, "...Do not be afraid; only believe."  In other words, when you are not mentally up to making confessions you should rest in the statements you made when your faith was high.

We should take no thought that questions God's ability to provide what we need for life and health.

Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Matthew 6:31-25
