The Real Enemy is Unbelief

May 2023

When reading the pamphlet this month, I was reminded of just how long Caleb and Joshua had to wait (40 years) to see the results of their faith’s confession.

This was definitely an instance where “other” people’s unbelief and disobedience delayed the blessing God had promised. The good news is that Caleb and Joshua survived and thrived in spite of the delay. Caleb was still so strong in his faith that at the age of 85 he asked to be given the mountain with the giants.

“As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in. Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the Lord spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the Lord will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the Lord said.” (Joshua 14:11-12)

Are you as strong in your faith as the day you first declared God’s Word?

I know that it seems time is the enemy, but in reality the real enemy is unbelief. The devil has no power over you except to feed you lies and cause doubt.

There are times in my life where I boldly declared the scriptures over circumstances and for a very long time, nothing changed. The key is to not quit. Don’t give up. Do what God told Joshua: “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” (Joshua 1:8)

Keep feeding your spirit on the Word of promise. Meditate and think about it day and night. Write it out on paper over and over. Get some of our confession bookmarks and lay them around where you can see them and be reminded. If you spend your time doing those things, then what time would you have to listen to the lies of the enemy? Your faith will grow exceedingly!

We are praying for you as our staff gathers in chapel services. You are in our boat and we love and appreciate you.

Annette Capps
